Mapleton Pioneer Day 2017

From the first siren early in the morning to the last firework late at night, Mapleton’s 2017 Pioneer Day Celebration had something for everyone.

This year’s Mapleton Pioneer Day celebration began with the sound of sirens at 6:30 am. Much of Mapleton was on the move in the early morning. Some were gathering for the breakfast in the Mapleton City Park, or the traditional Memorial Service which always features a flag-raising; music; and stories of Mapleton’s pioneers. Many others were gathering for the 5K run. Still others were staking out their places for the hometown parade beginning at 9:00am.

The parade is always a highlight of the celebration. Between the Grand Marshalls; first responders; high school and community groups; civic and church leaders; and, of course, the Primary floats, many Mapleton citizens have participated ed in the parade at one time or another. After the parade, there were games, food, and activities for everyone at the Mapleton City Park, including pioneer games provided by the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Evening activities took place at Ira Allen Park. The evening featured a Ping Pong Ball Drop; skydivers; entertainment; more food; and, of course, spectacular fireworks (which Mapleton is quickly becoming famous for).

Thanks to the many people – organizers, volunteers, police, first responders, city personnel, and others – whose hard work made Mapleton’s 2017 Pioneer Day Celebration one to remember!
